Studio Skala had been working for a couple of years when they called us to acoustically improve their control room, in which they had serious monitoring issues, as well as the experience of their mixes not translating well. They went through the usual process of changing their main monitors, and tried various sorts of speakers- Tannoy DMT15, Dynaudio BM15, NS10, overlooking the main problem, which was acoustics.
They insisted on preserving the volume of the control room, as well as the layout, which made it even more difficult to adequately treat the space, and not influence the already formed working habits which the resident engineers had.
