XLogic Workshop ... page in preparation | | | | | | | | Vlada and Mario prepare setup for workshop | | | | | | | | | | | | The XRAck had the module setup: Input/Input/EQ/EQ/DYN/DYN/4Mixer/MASTER so it represents a stereo Channel Strip of the XL9000K desk or the XLogic SuperAnalogue Channel Strip | | | | | | | | | | | | Since the summing and mixing in the analog domain is a highly discussed topic the XRack fitted with 4 line Mixer modules and 8 line Summing Modules (4Stereo) with 1 master module offers a very high quality solution. | | | | | | | | | | | | can we add some more text about this picture... | | | | | | | | | | | | All the modules represent the XL9000K Series Super analogue Technology with the extended bandwith of 6Hz up to 215 kHz (-3db). Take a look at the phase response curve ! Thats the secret about the big bass sound of SSL mixing desks. If you wonder about the "spike" in the frequency plot, in the text of the magazine is explained that the SSL preamp exceeded the capabilities of the Audio Precision measuring device. | | | | | | | | | | | | Additional to the XRack we listened to the XLogic Alpha Channel . The alpha Channel Strip provides the preamp of the XL9000J series console with the VHD (Variable Harmonic Drive) of the E-Signature Channel, a switchable lo cut (40/80/120Hz), balanced insert which can be summed and the (mono) 3band G-Series EQ of the SL4000 Stereo Module. At our test a TOFT FET compressor was used on the insert point of the SSL Alpha Channel Strip which you can see on pictures. | | | | | | | | | | | | The topping of the cake is the SSL AD converter (Spdif 32kHz - 108kHz following on SpDif input) and a lite limit circuit to protect against digital distortion. | | | | | | | | | | | | The famous Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) was taken of the E-Signature Channel and allows to timewarp between the 1950s (2nd harmonics - tube sound) and the 1970s and later (3rd harmonics - transistor sound). When switched in it gives you the perfect tool to change the sound of your microphone or instrument from more warm to more harsh and edgy. This is just more important when you don't have a rich collection of vintage and up-to-date microphones. | | | | | | | | | | | | For example a XRack fitted with input/input/4mixer/4mixer/4mixer/4mixer/8summing/master provides a 24channel mixer (16 mono+4stereo) with a stereo preamp for high quality recordings in just 4 rackunits.... tells Vlada.... | | | | | | | | | | | | The Total Recall System was taken from the famous SSL analogue Consoles and provides the exact replication of any setting in 32 storage setups. This 32 setups can be sent via MIDI SysEx message to any computer to be recorded within the project on a midi track. Just play back the SysEx and you can exactly recall the settings of your production. A big bonus (especially for stereo settings of EQs and Dynamics, but also for the preamp level and Hicut/LoCut filter settings) is the COPY function. Just copy the setting from the EQ module for the Left channel to the EQ Module for the Right channel.... Mario explain.... | | | | | | | | | | | | We support this workshop with our smallest (and yellow!) A1802 studio power amplifier, they drive Yamaha NS10 monitors with it. | | | | | | | | | | Error, missing joomlaboard config file!
